OWDA is an active national humanitarian organization dedicated to implementing sustainable human development throughout Ethiopia. Over its lifespan, it has grown substantially in the number of projects implemented, areas covered, as well as the workforce and financial resources managed.

OWDA aspires to see Ethiopia where all people have attained sustainable human development.
Maintain and strengthen strategic capacities and partnerships to bring about sustainable development in the lives of underserved populations in Ethiopia.
Promote conditions of sustainable human development through implementing programs/ projects on basic service delivery, economic opportunities, livelihood diversification, Disaster Risk Management and climate change adaptations as well as advocacy and protection.
Organization for Welfare and Development in Action (OWDA) was established in December 1999 with the registration No. 0421 to provide humanitarian assistance to 1999/2000 drought affected population in the region. The highest authority of OWDA is the general assembly (GA). The GA, currently 53 members, delegates the oversight role to the board of directors, which consists of five members elected from general assembly for four years term.
